Branding CogX 2020, Biggest festival of Ai and Breakthrough technology.

Client’s background.

CogX is an award-winning festival with its roots in artificial intelligence. In 2020, each stage represented one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. During the event, tech companies, activists, academics and government representatives discussed the impact of technology on the future world and discussed the next steps that are necessary for the safe implementation of the breakthrough technology.

Business problem

The event had 18 stages, 17 of them themed around UN’s SDGs. Moreover, there were around 10 segments that the event was targeting (startups, big corporations, NGOs, etc.)
We have inherited a previously made logo, typefaces and colours which we could not change. The brand needed to define a scalable identity for the event and preserve it across all of the marketing funnels.
Moreover, in 2020 we were aiming at hosting a physical event, when suddenly COVID-19 pandemic happened. Our CEO had to make a decision to still host the event of the same scale, but to do so virtually. So we pivoted into a Virtual CogX.

Approach

As a Senior Digital Designer in a start-up, I was working within marketing, product and sales teams simultaneously.
My main responsibilities included strategising funnel material, linking both product and marketing CX journeys and managing content for the socials, email and marketing website pages.
When the team started working on the event we:
β†’ Started with product and brand discovery workshops.
β†’ Worked on the concept for the virtual platform and user experience throughout the event.
β†’ Defined the brand strategy and the vision.
β†’ Mapped out the CX and started working on the production of the digital collateral for numerous funnels (Pre, during, post the actual event).
β†’ Worked with multiple agencies on the production of the platform, the live-streaming software and the marketing promotion of the event.

Proposed redesign.

After the event in 2020, we have started working on a new brand strategy for the business.
The strategy was to create a brand that would better communicate CogX’s USP - their community and their existing digital members platform.
With this identity we wanted to visualise an amazing network that CogX has amassed.

However due to unprecedented events i 2020, the project could not move forward.
